Maureen Denise McCormick was born on 5 August 1956 in Woodland Hills California the youngest and sole daughter of Richard McCormick and Irene McCormick. Her family consisted of an aunt who worked as household worker and father who was a teacher. Her older brothers are: Michael Dennis and Kevin. McCormick was an accomplished artist and singer from an early age. She perform shows using puppets for her neighbors. Her rise to fame as a fairytale began when she was crowned her first Baby Miss San Fernando Valley contest in the age group of six, which prompted a call from talent agent Pat Domigan of the Jack Wormser Agency who asked if she'd like to work in show business. McCormick was offered her first gig as a leading actress in 1964. She starred in a commercial for Mattels' newest doll Baby Pattaburp. McCormick also starred in a commercial in the year 1964 for Mattels Chatty Cathy toy and soon was cast as the lead role in Wind It up and It Breaks, a play at La Jolla Playhouse. The Brady Bunch McCormick, which was chosen out of 200 auditioned kids, played the third of three head-to-head daughters in The Brady Bunch (1969), starring Florence Henderson and Robert Reed. The show lasted for five years. In her memoir Heres the Story: Surviving Marcia Brady and Finding My True Voice released in 2008, McCormick revealed that during the fifth season, she almost lost her virginity due to her onscreen co-star and brother Barry Williams. He was 19. She was 16. The woman said it might be possible, however it was never the best moment to make the decision.
