Maureen FitzSimons's achievements as a young performer in America (which we refer to as Maureen O'Hara today) would certainly put her in the child-prodigy category. For a child with Irish origins, who was surrounded her by talented parents and family members, this came naturally. Maureen was welcomed into the safe haven of her parents on August 17 1920, located in Ranelagh (a suburb in Dublin), Ireland. Marguerita Lilburn fitzSimons' mother was a contralto. His father, Charles FitzSimons, managed the business of Dublin as well as owned a part of the well-known Irish soccer team "The Shamrock Rovers." Maureen FitzSimons came second in a family of six FitzSimons. Peggy FitzSimons Florrie Charles B. Fitzsimons Margot Fitzsimons James O'Hara rounded off this gorgeous group. Maureen was a fan of rough and sporting games in her youth and excelled in sports. Her natural ability to perform was the perfect match for her love of sports. She won almost every Feis Award for Theater and Drama the country could give. In her 14th year she joined an organization called the Abbey Theater to follow her dream and study operatic and classical vocals.
